K-State women trounce UTEP in Puerto Vallarta

Kansas State’s women’s basketball team built a 28-point halftime lead and rolled to a 72-43 win over Texas-El Paso in the first game of the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Valllarta, Mexico.

K-State held UTEP to 15 first-half points, limiting the Miners to 18.2 percent shooting (6 of 33) while K-State shot 57.1 percent (16 of 28) on the way to a 43-15 lead.

Breanna Lewis and Haley Texada finished with 14 points apiece for K-State, and Asia Woods and Bri Craig each scored 13.

Tuesday’s result represented a 74-point swing from last November’s game in El Paso, when UTEP beat K-State 84-39.

Kansas State will play Santa Clara on Wednesday in Puerto Vallarta.
