More details in arrest of Kansas State defensive back Cre Moore
Cre Moore, a sophomore Kansas State cornerback, was arrested early Sunday morning by Riley County police on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The arrest occurred at 3:26 a.m. in the 1900 block of Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan.
Riley County police responded to a single-vehicle collision near Poyntz and Evergreen at approximately 2:55 a.m. Police found that a 2014 Ford F150 driven by Moore had left the road and collided with a light pole and a privately owned stone stairwell.
The vehicle sustained major damage to the front driver’s side as well as the front driver’s side wheel, according to police, which became detached as a result of the crash. Moore did not suffer any injuries; after an investigation he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Moore was also found to be in possession of several pills, which were identified as depressants, police said. His bond was set at $3,500. He was taken to Riley County Jail but released as of Monday morning.
Moore is a backup cornerback for the Wildcats. He redshirted and then played in five games last season. He made one tackle against Oklahoma State on Saturday.
K-State coach Bill Snyder said he knows how he will handle the arrest, but declined to share that information publicly during the Big 12 coaches teleconference Monday.
