Kansas State football coach Collin Klein has added a new potential playmaker to his inaugural recruiting class with the Wildcats.

Laron Baker, a 5-foot-11 and 170-pound wide receiver from East St. Louis in Illinois, has announced his intentions to play for K-State.

Baker committed to the Wildcats shortly after he took a recruiting visit to Manhattan. Over the weekend, he posted a message on social media that read “EMAW???” A few days later, he answered his own question by pledging his services to K-State.

He is a three-star prospect who picked K-State over interest from Cincinnati, Missouri, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. But he also held scholarship offers from Kentucky, LSU, Indiana, West Virginia and others.

Baker also visited Cincinnati but chose K-State in a recruiting battle of Big 12 rivals.

He will be expected to provide speed and depth to the K-State offense when he arrives as a freshman in 2027.

With Baker on board, the Wildcats have lined up 25 members for their recruiting class of 2027. The recruiting services ranked it among the top-30 nationally as of Tuesday afternoon.
