- The Wildcats have added another transfer, this one is from San Diego State
- K-State will have three familiar faces on offense with Avery Johnson and Joe Jackson
The Kansas State football roster will look much different in Collin Klein’s first season as head coach, but at least three recognizable faces are returning to help lead the Wildcats on offense.
Jaron Tibbs, a 6-foot-2 and 212-pound junior wide receiver, has announced that he will finish his college football career in Manhattan.
With quarterback Avery Johnson and running back Joe Jackson also set to return, the Wildcats will have three proven playmakers to lean on as Klein takes command.
Tibbs began his college football career at Purdue before transferring to K-State ahead of last season. As a junior, he caught 47 passes for 595 yards and three touchdowns with the Wildcats. He was the clear No. 2 receiver behind Jayce Brown, who has since transferred to LSU.
His best game in a purple uniform came against Baylor, when Johnson connected with Tibbs six times for 80 yards. Tibbs also caught touchdown passes against North Dakota, Army and Kansas. He was a reliable target who caught at least one pass in all 12 games.
K-State also added some reinforcement to its offensive line this week in the form of San Diego State transfer Chase Duarte. He is a 6-foot-5 and 305-pound blocker who saw action at guard in six games as a freshman with the Aztecs.
He will follow new K-State offensive line coach Mike Schmidt to Manhattan. Schmidt previously coached Duarte at SDSU.
The Wildcats have gained commitments from 24 incoming transfers this month.
