Kansas State expected to hire Missouri’s QB coach as new offensive coordinator

Collin Klein’s inaugural coaching staff will soon be complete at Kansas State.

The Wildcats are expected to hire Sean Gleeson as their new offensive coordinator, according to a team source.

Gleeson spent the past two seasons working for the Missouri Tigers, first as an offensive analyst and then as a quarterbacks coach. He has nearly 20 years of coaching experience and he has served as an offensive coordinator before. He has called plays for Rutgers, Oklahoma State and Princeton.

His time in the Big 12 came in 2019 with the Cowboys. That season, Oklahoma State averaged 32.5 points and 453.9 yards per game on its way to an eight-win season.

ESPN first reported his move to K-State.

It is unclear if Gleeson will call plays for K-State next season or if Klein will handle that job himself. He has previously said that he wasn’t opposed to calling his own plays, and he has spent the past few seasons as an offensive coordinator at Texas A&M.

In any case, Gleeson will round out Klein’s coaching staff.

K-State has signed the rest of K-State’s incoming coaches to two-year contracts worth more than $5 million collectively.
