  • Donovan McIntosh reversed portal decision and will remain with K-State.
  • Chiddi Obiazor will enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2.
  • K-State lost nearly 20 players to the transfer portal over the past month.

Friday was filled with both good and bad news for the Kansas State football team on the transfer front.

First, the good news: One of the first players to announce he was heading to the transfer portal earlier this month has reversed course and decided to remain with the Wildcats.

Donovan McIntosh, a 6-foot-3 and 194-pound sophomore defensive back from St. Louis, has announced that he’s “staying home” to play for new head coach Collin Klein. That does not come as a surprise. He posted a positive message on social media after K-State formally hired Jordan Peterson as its defensive coordinator.

McIntosh made 33 tackles and grabbed an interception for the Wildcats last season.

The new coaching staff convinced him to stay in Manhattan.

Now, the bad news. The Wildcats will lose Chiddi Obiazor to the transfer portal when it opens on January 2. His agents told media outlets on Friday that he intends to leave K-State and play elsewhere next season.

The 6-foot-6 and 275-pound defensive end had 28 tackles, including two sacks, last season.

He will join fellow defensive lineman Malcom Alcorn-Crowder as an outgoing transfer after he announced his departure earlier this week.

Daniel Cobbs, a defensive back who made 39 tackles last season, also plans to play elsewhere next season.

The Wildcats have lost nearly 20 outgoing transfers over the past month.
