A pair of notable Kansas State football players have decided to transfer away from the Wildcats and play elsewhere next season.

Tobi Osunsanmi, a 6-foot-3 and 250-pound junior defensive end from Wichita, announced on Friday that his time with the K-State football team has come to an end.

“I’m extremely grateful for my time here at Kansas State,” he wrote on social media, “and for the coaches who believed in me, the teammates who became brothers and everyone who supported me on and off the field. The lessons, relationships and experiences I’ve gained will always be a part of me.”

Osunsanmi departs K-State after spending the past four seasons in Manhattan. During his time in a purple uniform, he piled up 39 tackles and 8.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles. He was on his way to a terrific season this year before he suffered a season-ending injury.

He led K-State with a team-high four sacks midway through the season.

Osunsanmi originally committed to K-State out of Wichita East, where he played for head coach Ene Akpan.

K-State’s other new outgoing transfer is Devin Vass, a 6-foot-6 and 309-pound sophomore offensive lineman. Vass started multiple games for the Wildcats at right guard. His blocking helped the Wildcats make a late-season push to finish with a 6-6 record.

Ralph Ortiz, a seldom-used junior linebacker, also plans to transfer.

They join a growing list of 17 exiting players who have already announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal when it opens in early January.
