Things didn’t look good for the Wildcats in the beginning, as they lost the first set 25-21, but they rallied to win the second set 25-17. With things all tied up, San Diego struck back with a 28-26 win in the following set, which pushed K-State to the brink of elimination.

Nerves were high on the K-State sideline, but the Wildcats responded with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set and then a 15-12 victory in the final set.

Just like that, a good season got even better for head coach Jason Mandsfield and the Wildcats.

Shaylee Myers led the way with 26 kills for K-State, but Aniya Clinton wasn’t far behind with 19 of her own. Symone Sims led the team with 17 digs. Ava Legrand had 14.

Next up for K-State is a challenging matchup against No. 1 seed and host team Nebraska at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The undefeated Cornhuskers dispatched the Long Island University Sharks in three sets on Friday.
