K-State Wildcats vs. Army Black Knights: Football game prediction, TV, time, odds

The Kansas State football team will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Army at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Unlike the first two games of the season, traveling to Dublin and dealing with jet lag after a long trip home shouldn’t be issues for the Wildcats. A new type of challenge exists this week. How will Chris Klieman’s defense handle Army’s triple-option offense?

It will be interesting to find out.

K-State vs. Army game prediction

You can never underestimate a team like Army. With a football roster full of cadets, the Black Knights are one of the few teams in all of college football that will show up for every single game and play with maximum intensity.

For that reason, it’s impossible to discount Army this week even though they are coming off an overtime loss at home to Tarleton State.

Jeff Monken’s team may not be able to match K-State in terms of size or talent, but it can pose challenges for the Wildcats in many other areas.

It will be interesting to see how K-State handles the triple option. The Cyclones roasted the Wildcats with three scoring drives in the second half of their game in Ireland. Then North Dakota reeled off five touchdown drives of at least 70 yards against K-State last week. If the Black Knights can also move the ball, the Wildcats could be in for a long day.

But Army doesn’t have the best track record against power-conference teams. Its last win over a P4 opponent came over Missouri at the Armed Forces Bowl in 2021. Its last win over a P4 opponent in the regular season came over Duke in 2017.

Its unique offense can churn out yards against mid-major teams. But it has been known to sputter against bigger and faster rosters.

I expect K-State to have success in this matchup. Its defense has been humbled over the past two weeks and should have something to prove on Saturday. I also don’t see the Black Knights getting many stops against the Wildcats. Avery Johnson should be able to throw for big yardage against this secondary.

K-State is the more talented team, and that should lead to a home victory for the Wildcats.
