Kansas State announces contract extension for women’s basketball coach Jeff Mittie

Kansas State has rewarded Jeff Mittie for guiding its women’s basketball team to another NCAA Tournament, and for staying put after a Southeastern Conference school showed interest in hiring him a few months ago.

The Wildcats announced a one-year contract extension for Mittie on Thursday that will run through the 2029-30 season.

This is the second straight year that K-State has given Mittie an extension. No new financial figures were released by the school, but Mittie was set to earn $780,000 in salary next season under his previous contract. His salary was set to increase each year until it maxed out at $925,000 at the end of his deal.

Mittie earned the contract extension by leading Ayoka Lee, Serena Sundell and his most recent K-State women’s basketball roster to the Sweet 16.

It also makes sense for the Wildcats to extend his contract after he was reportedly a candidate for the opening at Missouri until the SEC’s Tigers hired Kellie Harper.

Mittie downplayed any interest between himself and Missouri. Now, he appears focused on his future in Manhattan.

Mittie has been at K-State for 11 seasons andholds a career record of 218-143. He has guided the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament six times.
