Jack Karapetyan to transfer from Kansas State basketball team
Jack Karapetyan, a redshirt freshman forward, has left the Kansas State basketball team and will seek a transfer at the conclusion of the fall semester.
K-State announced the departure on Monday in a news release.
“Jack has decided he wants to transfer from K-State,” coach Bruce Weber said in a statement. “We appreciate his contributions and wish him the best in the future as he continues his college basketball career.”
A Los Angeles native, Karapetyan came to K-State as an unheralded prospect and a late addition to the 2013 recruiting class. His departure clears room for K-State’s 2015 recruiting class. The Wildcats have three commitments – St. John forward Dean Wade, St. Petersburg, Fla., point guard Barry Brown and Arlington, Texas big man Dante Williams – and two departing seniors. Now the numbers add up.
K-State also had a commitment from power forward Eric Cobb, but sources say he is no longer part of the mix.
Karapetyan played in six games last season, scoring two points and grabbing one rebound, but he was granted a medical hardship waiver after suffering a foot injury. He has five years to complete his eligibility elsewhere.
