KU Jayhawks and K-State Wildcats finalists for touted football recruit Ian Premer
One of the top football recruits from the Sunflower State is strongly considering staying home as he narrows down his list of potential colleges.
Ian Premer, a four-star tight end from Great Bend, lists both the Kansas Jayhawks and the K-State Wildcats in his group of five finalists.
Premer announced his list on Wednesday night while appearing on the Verbal Commitment Podcast. The other three contenders are Michigan, Notre Dame and Iowa State.
Notable colleges from across the country have been recruiting Premer for months because of his elite athleticism. The 6-foot-5 and 225-pound playmaker is such a skilled multi-sport athlete that he has received scholarship offers from both K-State football coach Chris Klieman and K-State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang.
He could probably pursue a multi-sport career in college, but his focus is on the gridiron. That makes sense, considering he is the consensus No. 1 recruit in the Sunflower State for the recruiting class of 2026.
Both the Jayhawks and the Wildcats would love to add him to their rosters. But they will face stiff competition from other teams.
Premer plans to visit all five of his finalists after the spring semester comes to an end, starting with Michigan on May 30.
Kansas will host Premer on June 6. From there, he will head to Notre Dame on June 10 and then Iowa State on June 13.
His final campus visit will happen at K-State on June 20.
