Three former Kansas State Wildcats put up impressive numbers at NFL Scouting Combine

A trio of former Kansas State football players boosted their professional stock at the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend in Indianapolis.

Running back DJ Giddens, cornerback Jacob Parrish and safety Marques Sigle all showed off their athleticism by putting up impressive numbers in front of an army of NFL decision-makers.

One thing they had in common: speed.

All three of them excelled at the 40-yard dash. Parrish led the way with a time of 4.35 seconds, which ended up being the ninth-fastest showing at the event. Sigle wasn’t far behind at 4.37 seconds. Giddens clocked in at 4.43 seconds.

Speed is a requirement at the next level, and all three of K-State’s representatives proved that they had it at the NFL Combine.

Parrish is a 5-foot-10, 191-pound defensive back who made 108 tackles and defended 19 passes during his successful college career. He performed so well in Indy that ESPN analyst Mel Kiper thinks he can now be considered “solidly in the Day 2 mix” for the NFL Draft.

In other words, he can expect to be selected in the first three rounds.

“He was flying a little under the radar and was outside my top 10 corners,” Kiper wrote. “His 4.35-second 40 time, 37.5-inch vertical and 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump could change that.”

Parrish also completed 12 reps on the bench press to earn an athleticism score of 90 at NFL.com

Sigle, who was the quarterback of K-State’s defense last season, posted a vertical jump of 38 inches and a broad jump of 10-foot-10. His athleticism score came in at 84.

Giddens was known for his bruising running style as he rushed for 3,087 yards and 23 touchdowns with the Wildcats. But he showed off a wide array of talents in Indianapolis on his way to an athleticism score of 83. His 10-yard split was 1.53 seconds and his 20-yard shuttle was 4.33 seconds. His vertical jump was 39.5 inches.
