Kansas State Wildcats schedule future home-and-home football series with ACC team
The Kansas State football team is ready to reunite with North Carolina State.
Less than a year after the Wildcats defeated the Wolfpack 28-19 at the Pop-Tarts Bowl, the teams have agreed to play each other again in a home-and-home series that will take place in future seasons.
The series was first reported by WRAL News in Raleigh, N.C., after the TV station obtained a copy of the series contract via an open-records request.
K-State will begin the nonconference series on Sept. 25, 2027 with a road game at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. The Wildcats will play host to the Wolfpack five years later, on Sept. 18, 2032 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Those games will help K-State fill out future nonconference slates after it canceled a previously scheduled series with Colorado, because the Buffaloes are now members of the Big 12. The Wildcats also recently lost a future home-and-home series against Rutgers.
It is unusual for K-State to play a nonconference team from the ACC. The Wildcats haven’t faced an ACC team in the regular season since they defeated Miami 52-13 in 2012.
K-State fans have good memories of playing North Carolina State, though. Avery Johnson led the Wildcats to an exciting victory over the Wolfpack last December by throwing for 178 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 71 yards and a score.
