The Kansas State Wildcats continue to climb in women’s basketball top 25 rankings
The Kansas State women’s basketball team keeps on winning and moving up in the national polls.
K-State surged into the top five of the latest top 25 rankings when they were released on Monday. The Wildcats (18-1), who have won 12 straight games and currently sit atop the Big 12 standings, checked in at No. 4.
This is the highest they have been ranked in 21 years. They moved up three spots from last week when they broke into the top 10 for the first time in two decades.
The Wildcats have climbed so far up the top 25 rankings that they now find themselves ahead of several traditional powers like No. 5 Iowa, No. 8 Connecticut and No. 9 LSU.
Texas is the next Big 12 team in the rankings at No. 10.
K-State kept its magical season going last week when they defeated rival Kansas 69-58 in front of a near sellout crowd inside Bramlage Coliseum.
But the Wildcats will be challenged in the week ahead. Not only must they play their next few games without star center Ayoka Lee, who will miss approximately four weeks with an ankle injury, they must go against top-notch competition.
K-State will play at No. 13 Baylor on Monday night and then host BYU on Saturday.
