Kansas State forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin arrested for fighting in Manhattan bar district
The top returning player on the Kansas State men’s basketball team was arrested Sunday morning in Manhattan.
Nae’Qwan Tomlin, a senior wing who averaged 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Wildcats last season, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. on Sunday at the 1100 block of Moro Street on charges of “disorderly conduct” and “brawling or fighting” at Tubby’s Sports Bar by Riley County police.
Tubby’s Sports Bar is located in the heart of Manhattan’s entertainment district known as Aggieville.
Tomlin was not confined after paying a bond of $750, according to a copy of the Riley County Police Department daily arrest report.
A spokesperson for the K-State basketball team did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.
Tomlin is expected to be a major contributor for the Wildcats this season as they look to build on a successful first season under head coach Jerome Tang, which ended with 26 victories and a trip to the Elite Eight.
K-State signed Tomlin out of junior college last season and he immediately helped the Wildcats as a starter in the frontcourt. He was so good during his first year at K-State that he tried out for several NBA teams during the spring before deciding to return to college for his senior year.
The K-State basketball team will play its first exhibition game of the season against Emporia State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bramlage Colisum. The Wildcats will open the season on Nov. 6 against USC in Las Vegas.
