Kansas State Wildcats unveil new design for basketball court at Bramlage Coliseum
The basketball court inside Bramlage Coliseum is getting a makeover.
Kansas State installed a brand new court at its home arena earlier this week and then shared pictures of the finished project on social media.
The Wildcats went with a nice and simple redesign that doesn’t feature any radical changes. A large Powercat logo remains at midcourt and purple paint can still be found in the lane under each basket. Most of the court looks like natural wood and the 3-point lines are painted white.
The new look feels more like a touch-up than a complete remodel.
But there are some noticeable changes. For instance, the dark-colored wood that used to separate the 3-point line from the lane is no more. That area of the court is now the same color as what you will find near midcourt.
K-State has also changed some of the wording on its floor. In the past, the phrase “K-STATE” was located on the top end of the court, as well as behind both baselines. The new court design features “Wildcats” written in script. But “K-STATE” remains under each basket.
There had previously been talk from athletic director Gene Taylor about making major changes to the court that might give the arena a one-of-a-kind look. He mentioned the idea of adding lavender to the court during a Q&A session with fans during the offseason. But it wasn’t to be.
In the end, though, the Wildcats opted for a simpler new design.
