Here’s where the Kansas State Wildcats are ranked in preseason top 25 football poll
Kansas State will enter the 2023 football season with a number next to its name.
The Wildcats checked in at No. 17 in the USA Today top 25 preseason rankings, when they were unveiled on Monday. Coaches from all across the country voted in the poll.
This is the first time K-State has been ranked in either of the two primary preseason polls since 2017. It is also the first time the Wildcats have been ranked at the start of a season under head coach Chris Klieman.
K-State earned a top 20 ranking after it won 10 games, claimed a Big 12 championship and reached the Sugar Bowl last season.
Georgia was the overwhelming choice for No. 1 as the Bulldogs look to win their third consecutive national championship, followed by Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU.
The Big 12 was well represented in the preseson top 25 with Texas checking in at No. 12, followed by TCU at No. 16, Oklahoma at No. 19 and Texas Tech at No. 25.
Future Big 12 member Utah (14) also made an appearance in the top 25.
The Kansas Jayhawks missed out on a preseason ranking, but they did receive a small amount of love in the poll as they received one vote for inclusion. The Missouri Tigers received 11 votes.
Other Big 12 teams in the “others receiving votes” section: Baylor, Oklahoma State, Houston and BYU.
