One of the best football recruits in the state of Kansas is ready to announce his college decision.

Kaedin Massey, a 6-foot-8 and 255-pound offensive lineman from Lyndon, will choose between Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Mississippi at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday during a ceremony at his high school.

The three-star recruit holds more than a dozen scholarships from power-conference schools and will have an opportunity to contribute at left tackle or right tackle wherever he ends up.

Most experts are currently projecting him to select K-State because of his close proximity to Manhattan and his long relationship with Chris Klieman and his coaching staff.

He also seemed to enjoy a recent recruiting visit to the Little Apple.

But that is not a unanimous prediction. Others have him going to Nebraska or Oklahoma. He clearly has plenty of good options, so some may hold their breath until he makes his announcement.

Other schools that have recruited him are Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma State and Stanford.

Massey is a consensus top-five recruit in the Sunflower State for the class of 2024. He is the No. 1 rated in-state prospect according to 247Sports. Both On3 and Rivals have him a tad lower at No. 3.

In any case, he would be a welcome addition for the Wildcats if he slips on a purple hat on Thursday.

The Wildcats have already locked up commitments from a pair of other local products in Mill Valley offensive lineman Gus Hawkins and Blue Valley running back John Price. But they haven’t landed a new recruit since late May. Securing Massey would give them some recruiting momentum before a few other key targets make their decisions.

K-State is also in the running for Junction City linebacker Michael Boganowski and Iowa offensive lineman Grant Brix.
