A new court design is coming for K-State basketball ... and it might feature lavender

Kansas State will play on a new court whenever it hosts basketball games inside Bramlage Coliseum next season.

That means a new floor design, a new look and maybe even a new color scheme is on the way for the Wildcats.

K-State athletic director Gene Taylor hinted that fans might see more than the school’s traditional purple at home games next year while speaking in a Q&A session with fans this week.

“There might be a little lavender in there somewhere,” Taylor said. “So don’t be surprised if there’s a little lavender somewhere in the mix.”

K-State has been playing on the same court that features a large, purple Powercat logo at midcourt for years. But it is time to install a new floor and change up the court design to something a little more modern.

“We have just been looking at court designs,” Taylor said. “Between the two basketball staffs, we came up with something that we feel very comfortable with. And that process will start this summer and we’ll have a brand new court for next season.

“You know, it’s not going to be anything crazy. We really want to just show what we have in terms of our logo and color scheme. We’re not going to have anything wild within the court design.”

Still, it will be a noticeable change for K-State fans.

“It’s going to be very bright and very, very clear,” Taylor said. “It’s going to really brighten up the look and feel of Bramlage.”
