Kansas State Wildcats add Pac-12 opponent to future men’s basketball schedules
New Kansas State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang will coach his first road game with the Wildcats in a Pac-12 venue next season.
K-State has agreed to a home-and-series with the California Golden Bears, both schools announced on Thursday.
The series will begin on Nov. 11 at Haas Pavilion next season. It will end two years later when K-State hosts Cal at a to-be-determined date during the 2024-25 season.
It marks the second time that K-State and Cal have agreed to a home-and-home series. They also played each other in 2006 and 2007. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 6-1.
The Bears are led by a familiar face in fourth-year coach Mark Fox, who is a native of Garden City and used to work for the Wildcats as an assistant from 1994-2000 under Tom Asbury.
By adding an early season game against Cal to his first basketball schedule at K-State, Jerome Tang has lined up a challenging road game for the Wildcats that he hopes will help prepare them for the rest of their campaign.
K-State’s nonconference basketball schedule for the 2022-23 season is now all but complete. Other notable games include home contests with Florida and Wichita State, a road trip to Butler and a neutral-court showdown against Nebraska at T-Mobile Center.
The Wildcats will also play in the Cayman Islands Classic, a three-game tournament that features a field of Illinois State, Akron, LSU, Nevada, Tulane, Rhode Island and Western Kentucky.
