Jerome Tang adds Stony Brook transfer to Kansas State Wildcats basketball roster
Jerome Tang is closing in on a full basketball roster at Kansas State.
Tykei Greene, a 6-foot-4 senior guard who averaged 14 points and 8.1 rebounds while playing at Stony Brook last season, has announced that he will transfer to K-State and finish his college career with the Wildcats.
His commitment gives K-State 11 scholarship players for the majority of summer workouts. Tang can still add two more as he prepares for his first season at Bramlage Coliseum, but he may opt to save those spots for future recruiting classes.
In any case, the Wildcats will have more than enough players to practice five-on-five and field a full rotation when games begin in November.
Greene seems look a good late addition to the roster, at least on paper. He has scored 1,111 points over the course of his college career, which includes stops at both Manhattan College and Stony Brook.
His best season came last year, when he started 30 games for Stony Brook and ranked second on the team in scoring while leading the way in rebounding. He averaged 31 minutes of playing time.
Some of his top games included 27 points against NJIT and 29 points against UMBC. He also finished with 11 points and nine rebounds in a game against Kansas.
He is best known for his outside shooting and rebounding. Greene made 42.6% of his shots from three-point range last season.
That is a skill the Wildcats could use next season as Greene looks to complement a back court that already features Markquis Nowell, Cam Carter, Nae’Qwan Tomlin, Desi Sills and Dorian Finister.
