Kansas State Wildcats land four football transfers during loaded recruiting weekend

It was a wildly productive recruiting weekend for the Kansas State football team.

Wildcats coach Chris Klieman hosted a handful of transfers on recruiting visits and wasted no time picking up commitments from four prospects who will arrive on campus ready to help K-State next season.

K-State landed transfers on both sides of the ball. They are:

  • Jadon Jackson, a 6-foot-1 and 200-pound junior receiver from Mississippi who caught 22 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown while playing in 22 games for the Rebels.
  • Anthony Frias, a 5-foot-10 and 205-pound running back from Modesto Junior College in California. He rushed for 851 yards and 17 touchdowns in 11 games.
  • Jordan Wright, a 6-foot-1 and 175-pound defensive back from Fullerton Community College in California.
  • Drake Cheatum, a 5-foot-10 and 185-pound defensive back who spent the past three seasons at Prairie View A&M.

All four incoming transfers announced their commitments to K-State on social media.

They are significant additions for the Wildcats, because they mostly come at positions of need.

The Wildcats will hope that Frias can make enough of an impact in the backfield to lessen the workload of star junior running back Deuce Vaughn. K-State lost both of its primary backup running backs after the Texas Bowl and Klieman had been looking to add depth behind Vaughn.

Cheatum and Wright can both add versatility and depth to the secondary. Wright is viewed as a solid addition because K-State beat several other schools for his services. Wright also held scholarship offers from Hawaii, SMU, Washington State and West Virginia. He was a spring priority for several coaches.

Less is known about Cheatum, but he comes to K-State from the same school that produced Reggie Stubblefield last season. And he was an instant playmaker for the Wildcats.

Jackson has the biggest name of the group, as he will be transferring in from a SEC school.

K-State has now landed 10 incoming transfers during the 2022 recruiting cycle.
