Kansas State announces times, dates, locations for first Catbacker Tour since 2019

A longtime tradition is returning to Kansas State’s sports calendar this spring.

K-State is reviving its popular Catbacker Tour for the first time since the traveling event went on hiatus during the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Just like old times, coaches and student-athletes from across the athletic department will travel to cities in every region of the Sunflower State and visit with fans at 15 different events.

Football coach Chris Klieman and associate head men’s basketball coach Ulric Maligi will be joined by student-athletes at stops during the first week of the tour. New men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang will visit various locations during the tour’s second week, along with assistant football coaches and student-athletes.

The tour promises to have a revamped format that feels like a mini pep rally when it begins later this month.

Here is a rundown of all the Catbacker Tour stops:

  • May 17 - Salina (2-4 p.m.) and Great Bend (6-8 p.m.)
  • May 18 - Hays (8:30-10 a.m.) and Colby (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and Scott City (6-8 p.m.)
