Three Kansas State Wildcats football players enter transfer portal after Texas Bowl
Three Kansas State football players have decided to transfer and finish their college football careers elsewhere.
The Wildcats lost three players to the NCAA transfer portal in the days immediately following their win over LSU at the Texas Bowl earlier this week.
Davonte Pritchard was the first to exit, followed by Tyrone Taleni and Clyde Price.
All three players were seldom-used this season and will be looking for increased playing time with their new teams.
Pritchard, a freshman linebacker from Gardner, didn’t play this past season. He was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and he chose the Wildcats when they were the only power-conference team to offer him a scholarship.
Taleni saw some action this season as a junior defensive tackle. He played in seven games and made four tackles. The Walnut, California native chose K-State over Hawaii and UTEP.
The latest transfer announcement came from Price, a sophomore running back from Kansas City who didn’t receive a carry during his time with the Wildcats. He arrived in Manhattan with moderate expectations after he chose K-State over Iowa and Bowling Green. But he was never able to work his way up the depth chart.
“I would like to thank Kansas State for everything they’ve done for me and Coach (Chris) Klieman for allowing me to play the game I love and to further my education,” Price wrote on social media. “After a lot of praying and thinking it over with my family I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal. To my teammates and Kansas State, thank you for everything.”
Ten K-State players have now elected to transfer since the midway point of the 2021 season.
