Kansas State beats out Stanford, Arizona, Minnesota for three-star offensive lineman
The Kansas State football team added to its recent positive momentum on the recruiting trail Sunday.
Andrew Leingang, a three-star offensive lineman with offers from 16 Division I football teams, pledged his services to the Wildcats with an announcement on social media over the weekend.
Leingang chose K-State over other power-conference schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State and Stanford. He is a 6-foot-5 and 260-pound guard from Bismarck, N.D., who has the potential to play multiple positions in college as he develops.
His location made him a prominent recruit for K-State football coach Chris Klieman. Before K-State hired Klieman last year, he led the North Dakota State Bison to a string of FCS championships and made a point to monitor the state for any and all potential big-time recruits.
That made K-State a natural fit for Leingang, but it also pitted Klieman against his formal school. The Bison were recruiting Leingang heavily.
Leingang is the 15th known member of K-State’s 2021 recruiting class. He committed to the Wildcats one week after three-star safety Matthew Langlois became a K-State pledge.
Leingang is KSU’s second 2021 recruit on the offensive line. Austin Weiner, of Gardner, is the other. Leingang will be expected to add depth to K-State’s front five when he arrives on campus, and to compete for a starting role as he matures.
