Kansas State Wildcats land linebacker from original ‘Last Chance U’ junior college
Anyone that watched the first two seasons of “Last Chance U” on Netflix will recognize the junior college that Kansas State’s newest football pledge currently calls home.
DeShawn Page, a 6-foot-3 and 225 pound linebacker from East Mississippi Community College, committed to the Wildcats on Wednesday.
That is good news for K-State as it continues to add to its 2021 recruiting class. Page made 36 tackles and recovered a fumble while playing for one of the nation’s top junior college teams as a freshman last season.
Page helped the Lions to six victories last season. Though it has been a few years since the Netflix cameras left EMCC, it is where the documentary series originated.
Page, originally from Knoxville, Tenn., chose the Wildcats over Oklahoma State, and announced his decision on social media. But his commitment did come with a caveat, as he wrote that “my recruitment will stay open to any and all programs until further notice.”
That means K-State may have some work to do to secure his services before signing day arrives.
As it stands, Page is the sixth known member of K-State’s 2021 recruiting class. He is also its second defensive player, as he joins Davonte Pritchard of Gardner Edgerton.
K-State’s other 2021 pledges are running back Jayden Williams, quarterback Jake Rubley, offensive lineman Noah Boliticoff and athlete Dorian Stephens.
