About Kansas State (9-18, 2-12 Big 12):
The Wildcats are looking to end their longest losing streak in 19 years, which reached seven games when Texas defeated K-State on Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum. They will likely have to do so without a key starter in the lineup. Freshman forward Montavious Murphy missed his last game because of what Weber described as a “tweaked knee” and he is questionable to play against the Bears. Freshman forward Antonio Gordon filled in for Murphy against Texas. K-State lost at home to Baylor, 73-67, earlier this season.

About Baylor (14-2, 13-1 Big 12): The Bears lost their first game in months on Saturday. Before Kansas defeated Baylor on Saturday, the Bears had won a Big 12 record 23 straight games and surged to the top of the national polls. They fell to No. 2 this week as they look to bounce back at home against the Wildcats. MaCio Teague was limited because of an injury against the Jayhawks, but still played 29 minutes. He may be closer to full health for this game. Jared Butler led the Bears with 20 points against the Wildcats earlier this season.

Prediction

It’s impossible for a team to face a harder week of games than K-State will when the Wildcats take on No. 2 Baylor and No. 1 Kansas over the next five days.

The daunting stretch begins with a road trip to Ferrell Center, where the Bears will either be motivated to bounce back from its first loss in 24 games or hungover three days after one of the biggest games in school history.

K-State could challenge Baylor if the Bears come out sluggish. Problem is, the Wildcats tend to play their worst at the start of games. They trailed Baylor 22-9 last month at home and were never able to recover.

It’s hard to pick against the Bears here. They are the better team in every area and have several more scorers to rely on than the Wildcats.

Baylor 71, K-State 58.
