Kansas State’s travel plans delayed by snowy weather ahead of Texas basketball game
The Kansas State basketball team had to adjust its travel plans for Saturday’s 7 p.m. game at Texas because of poor weather conditions in the Manhattan area.
K-State was unable to board a charter flight to Austin as snow and ice descended upon the Flint Hills on Friday afternoon, canceling flights across the region. The Wildcats now plan to depart for Texas at 8 a.m. Saturday, according to team spokesman Tom Gilbert.
That means the Wildcats will make a day trip to Austin for their third Big 12 Conference game of the season.
The K-State basketball team typically flies charter to most road games, leaving the day before every contest. The Wildcats were originally scheduled to depart Manhattan at 3 p.m. Friday. They tried to move their departure time up one hour, but that didn’t give them enough time to beat the weather.
Weather forecasts call for cold but clear conditions in Manhattan at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Gilbert said the team is scheduled to attend a shootaround at the Erwin Center late Saturday morning and then prepare for its game against the Longhorns as usual.
