Kansas State Wildcats unveil new twist to throwback lavender basketball uniforms
The Kansas State basketball team is adding a new twist to its popular throwback lavender uniforms.
When the Wildcats play against the Saint Louis Billikens on Saturday at Sprint Center they will wear lavender jerseys and lavender shorts together for the first time.
That is a change from the past two years when K-State honored its basketball past by wearing two-tone throwback uniforms that featured lavender jerseys and dark purple shorts.
The lavender-and-purple uniforms have been a hit with K-State fans and an attention-grabber for others. But the Wildcats were only able to wear the two-tone uniforms on a limited basis because NCAA uniform guidelines require teams to obtain a waiver in order to play games in them.
They only broke them out for one game last season.
That won’t be a problem with K-State’s new all-lavender look. The Wildcats can wear them at most games.
K-State’s newest alternate uniforms feature lavender as the main color with white and purple accents. The shorts include the letters “EMAW” and a throwback wildcat logo.
