Here’s where K-State basketball will travel for its next two November tournaments

Over the next two years, the Kansas State basketball team will travel to an exotic location and then stay close to home for November tournaments.

The Wildcats will play in the Cayman Islands Classic next season as part of an eight-team field that also consists of Miami, Mississippi, Oregon State, Nevada, Northern Iowa, La Salle and Western Kentucky. They will play three games at the tournament from Nov. 23-25 at John Gray Gymnasium in George Town, Cayman Islands.

In 2021, sources indicate K-State will head to Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center. The three other teams participating in the tournament have not been determined. The Wildcats last played in the event in 2015, defeating Missouri in the semifinals and then falling to North Carolina in the final.

K-State committed to both tournaments after finishing fourth at the Fort Myers Tip-Off last week in Florida.

The Cayman Islands Classic will offer the Wildcats a mixture of vacation and competition, with three other power-conference teams in the tournament. It is a relatively new college basketball event that concluded its third annual event last week with George Mason defeating New Mexico State in the championship game.

None of this year’s tournament was broadcast on traditional TV, but every game was streamed on the website FloHoops.com.

Butler defeated Stanford to win this year’s Hall of Fame Classic in a game that was televised on ESPN networks. Oklahoma beat Missouri in the consolation game.

The Hall of Fame Classic began in 2001. This will be K-State’s third appearance at the tournament.
