About Eastern Kentucky (2-1): The Colonels are off to a 2-1 start. They opened the season with a 105-77 loss to Marshall and followed that up with an 81-78 win over Chattanooga. They then defeated a lower-division opponent before heading to the Paradise Jam. Nick Mayo is averaging 28 points per game.
About Kansas State (2-0): The Wildcats are undefeated with wins over Kennesaw State and Denver, but neither of their victories have been impressive. K-State is only shooting 17.5 percent from three-point range and guards Kamau Stokes and Cartier Diarra have been cold. Dean Wade and Barry Brown have been K-State’s best players thus far.
Prediction: K-State 74, Eastern Kentucky 59 — The Wildcats haven’t scored more than 64 points in a game this season, but they should top 70 in this game. The law of averages suggests they will start shooting better, and Eastern Kentucky likes to play fast.
