Oklahoma eliminated Kansas State at Big 12 tourney
Robert Tasin hit a go-ahead single with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, and Oklahoma edged Kansas State 3-1 on Friday night in a pool play elimination game in the Big 12 Tournament.
With the game tied 1-1, Colbey Carpenter led off with a single off Kansas State starter Corey Fischer (4-6), who was then replaced by Lucas Benenanti. After Carpenter was bunted over to second, Benenanti got a strikeout before throwing a wild pitch that allowed Carpenter to move to third.
Tasin then hit a chopper that Wildcats shortstop Tyler Wolfe could not make a play on as Carpenter scored. Oklahoma (35-26) added an insurance run on another wild pitch by Benenanti.
Jacob Evans (6-1) tossed the final 1 2/3 innings for the win.
Kansas State (27-30) took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Tyler Moore.
In the day’s other elimination game, Adam Toth hit a two-run homer to help give Baylor an early lead and the Bears held on to edge Texas Tech 5-4.
