Kansas State gets three football commitments in one day

Sunday was a good recruiting day for the Kansas State football team.

The Wildcats gained commitments from two high school recruits and one junior-college transfer, bringing their 2018 recruiting class up to 21 members.

The new commits are:

▪  Levi Archer, a 6-foot-4 quarterback from Goodland.

▪  Malik Knowles, a 6-foot-3 receiver from Mansfield, Texas.

▪  Rahsaan York, a 6-foot linebacker from American River (Calif.) Community College.

York was the first player to commit on Sunday. A three-star recruit, he chose the Wildcats over Kansas, Iowa State and Mississippi. With K-State losing seniors Trent Tanking and Jayd Kirby at linebacker, it’s possible he could push for playing time right away next season.

Archer was next. As a senior at Goodland, he completed 101 of 198 attempts for 1,630 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was a dual-threat quarterback, also rushing for 706 yards and 11 touchdowns on 167 carries. He previously committed to Pittsburg State, but flipped to K-State when the Wildcats offered a scholarship over the weekend.

What position will he play at K-State? That remains uncertain. Though he has QB skills, his athleticism could also allow him to switch to defense.

Knowles rounded out the day by announcing his commitment to K-State on Twitter. A two-star recruit, he chose the Wildcats over Illinois.
