The Lowdown: TCU has been the king of tough losses this season. Since starting 12-0, the Horned Frogs have lost to Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma again by a combined 11 points. Three of their six Big 12 games have gone to overtime. They are looking to build off a win over Iowa State. K-State is coming off its biggest win of the season, an 87-69 victory over OU, and will try to move back above .500 in conference play.
K-State player to watch: Barry Brown. Since the start of Big 12 games, only Trae Young has scored more points than Brown. The junior guard is averaging 26 points over his past three games, including a 38-point masterpiece against Oklahoma State. He has taken charge of the Wildcats since Kamau Stokes went down with a broken left foot.
TCU player to watch: Vlad Brodziansky. It will be fun to watch TCU’s leading scorer, a 6-foot-11 stretch four from Slovakia, go against K-State forward Dean Wade. Like Wade, Brodziansky can play inside and out. He is one of the better big men in the league.
Prediction
Kansas State 79, TCU 78. This is a game K-State needs to win if it is serious about building a NCAA Tournament resume or finishing in the top half of the Big 12 standings. One thing is for sure: it will be close. TCU and K-State split the series last year, with both games going down to the wire.
