Nigel Johnson will transfer to Rutgers.

The former Kansas State point guard announced his decision to join the Scarlet Knights via transfer Tuesday afternoon on Twitter. He will sit out a year per NCAA transfer rules and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Johnson averaged 5.2 points and 1.7 assists for K-State as a sophomore and was in line for major playing time as a junior after scoring 20 points in a home victory over Kansas and 17 points in an upset against Iowa State. But he opted to seek a fresh start near his home of Ashburn, Va. He is one of six players to depart K-State this year.

Johnson joins a Rutgers team that went 10-22 and finished last in the Big Ten last season.
