UMKC at Kansas State preview: players to watch, prediction
When: 7 p.m. Tuesday
Where: Bramlage Coliseum, Manhattan
Radio:1480-AM; 102.5-FM; 107.9-FM
TV: FSKC
The Lowdown: These teams were on opposite ends of the spectrum on opening night. K-State throttled American 83-45 at home, while UMKC lost 109-57 to Wichita State on the road. The Kangaroos did bounce back with an easy 110-59 win over Haskell on Sunday, though.
UMKC Player to watch: Sophomore forward Jordan Giles led the Kangaroos with 21 points against Haskell, going 8 of 9 from the floor with five rebounds.
K-State Player to watch: Amaad Wainright. The junior-college transfer should get ample playing time in this game, as the Wildcats are expected to win big. Keep an eye on Wainright, an athletic reserve who is capable of highlight plays.
Prediction
UMKC is ranked No. 311 nationally by college basketball statistician Ken Pomeroy. That’s down 25 spots from No. 286 American, which K-State trounced last week. Expect another lopsided victory for the Wildcats.
