Check out the throwback lavender jerseys K-State will wear this season

The Kansas State basketball team will bring back its vintage lavender jerseys for a game this season.

K-State announced Friday it will wear the throwback look during a game against TCU on Jan. 20 at Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats flashed a preview of players wearing the jerseys in the second half of an 83-45 victory over American.

The full uniform will include dark purple shorts, lavender tops and lavendar shoes.

K-State fans seemed to respond well to the announcement on social media, and the announcement was met with applause from fans when it was shown on the video board at Bramlage Coliseum.

The Wildcats used to wear the lavender jerseys in the 1970s, becoming one of the few teams in college basketball to flash two-tone uniforms. K-State went away from them in the 80s, and has mostly gone with quieter colors in recent years, wearing purple and black uniforms on the road and white and gray uniforms at home.

The team occasionally broke out lavender jerseys at times under former coaches Jim Wooldridge and Frank Martin, but this will be the first time under Bruce Weber.
