East’s Xavier Kelly withdraws commitment from Kansas State
East High junior tight end/defensive end Xavier Kelly withdrew his oral commitment from Kansas State on Saturday.
“I talked to my dad for a long time about this, and we want the best opportunity for me,” Kelly said. “And in order to do that, I needed to get out of my commitment so I could keep my options open.
“It was hard to decommit, and I was a little nervous about it. But this was the was the best thing to do, for me.”
Kelly said he is still considering K-State.
I have decided to open up my recruitment.

Kelly committed to K-State last fall, then said during basketball season that he was planning to take all five of his recruiting visits, per NCAA rules.
Kelly (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) drove to Dallas the morning after the state championship game and ran a 4.55-second 40-yard dash at a Nike regional combine.
