An exciting weekend of college football led to some changes in my top 25 ballot.

Let’s break it down:

Movement up top: My top three of Mississippi State, Mississippi and Florida State remains unchanged despite the Seminoles’ victory over Notre Dame. I considered moving Florida State up, but decided the Mississippi schools have slightly better resumes, overall. There was a lot of movement in the rest of the top 10. Auburn goes up to fourth, Alabama rises to fifth after its shutout of Texas A&M and Notre Dame drops one spot to sixth. Kansas State is new to the top 10 at No. 8 after beating Oklahoma 31-30 on the road.

Biggest jump: I was underrating West Virginia. No more. After the Mountaineers handed Baylor its first loss, West Virginia goes from unranked to 16th. It deserves a spot in the top 20 after challenging itself against Alabama in nonconference play and putting up results in league games.

Biggest drop: Oklahoma State fell 10 spots to the bottom of my ballot at No. 25. The Cowboys didn’t even put up a fight against TCU, and I considered dropping them from my rankings entirely.

See you later: Texas A&M tricked us all. That blowout victory over South Carolina in its opener no longer looks so impressive now that the Aggies have been crushed in three straight weeks. Stanford also drops out after another loss.

New arrivals: Southern California returns to the top 25 now that it is 4-1 in the Pac-12.
