Kellis Robinett’s college football rankings (Sept. 28)

It was moving week in my Associated Press Top 25 ballot. While the top of my vote stayed mostly unchanged, the middle and bottom look completely different after teams I had been ranking got walloped. As a result, five teams fell off my ballot completely, making way for five new teams.

Let’s break it down:

Movement up top: My top six are the same as last week, but UCLA gets a bump from ninth to seventh after pounding Arizona State 62-27 on the road. The Bruins had been moving down my poll, because of mediocre victories, but what they did Thursday was impressive.

Biggest jump: Stanford jumped from 21st to 16th following a road victory over Washington. The Huskies were undefeated and they played in front of a packed house, but the Cardinal came away with the win.

Biggest drop: For weeks, readers told me I was overrating Penn State. My Twitter replies showed people saying Penn State shouldn’t even be included on my ballot. E-mailers said I was crazy to rank Penn State 12th. Well, they were right. Apparently, I thought too much of early wins against Central Florida and Rutgers. No top 25 team should get blown out by Northwestern at home. Penn State drops from 12th to unranked.

See you later: Also saying goodbye this week are Duke, Utah, Arizona State and South Carolina. Duke lost to Miami, Utah’s win at Michigan no longer seems special (and it lost to Washington State), Arizona State gave up 62 points at home and South Carolina has two home losses.

New arrivals: Welcome TCU, Oklahoma State, Arizona and Georgia Tech. Welcome back Ohio State. The Horned Frogs are undefeated with dominant wins over Minnesota and SMU. The Cowboys are 3-1, with their only loss coming to Florida State. The Wildcats and the Yellow Jackets are both undefeated. And the Buckeyes just pounded Cincinnati.
