Tulsa’s overtime heroics keep Thunder winless

Tulsa’s T.J. Caig scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Wichita Thunder to a 6-5 loss on Sunday in Tulsa.

Caig scored the overtime goal, his second of the game, on a breakaway, beating Thunder goalie Tim Boron for the win.

It was Caig’s fourth goal in two games.

Wichita trailed 3-0 in the first period as Tulsa jumped out to the big lead behind goals from Adam Pleskach, Caig and Kevin Noble.

Wichita rallied with a late goal in the first period from Stephen Schultz, then tied the score at 4-4 in the second period with three unanswered goals in three minutes from Kenton Miller, Todd Hosmer and Dalton Reum. The Thunder’s Jared Walker sent the game to overtime with a goal 14:10 into the third period.

The Thunder have lost two straight to open the season.
