White House Now Pulling For England to Win 2026 FIFA World Cup
The White House appears to have a clear rooting interest in the World Cup semifinals, which are set to begin on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Spain will be taking on France in one semifinal, while England will be taking on Argentina in another semifinal. The two winners will advance to the championship match, set for Sunday, July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.
The U.S. men's national team fell to Belgium, 4-1, in the Round of 16. It was a disappointing exit for the men's national team, as they haven't reached the quarterfinals since 2002. Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun and Co. were unable to push the USMNT over the hill.
But as the U.S. men's national team fell to Belgium, falling out of the World Cup, the White House had adopted a new team.
White House advisor Andrew Giuliani has made it clear that he's pulling for England over the other three countries. Giuliani serves as the head of the White House's World Cup task force.
White House pushing for England to win World Cup
During an interview with the Daily Mail, Giuliani stated that he's pulling for England to win it all.
"You know, if the United States can't win on our 250th birthday, then a great storyline would be the English coming to America and winning during our anniversary celebrations.
"It's been 60 years of hurt I gather for England, so that would be beautiful victory for them if they won the tournament. I do absolutely think England can go all the way, they are one of the top teams left now."
Harry Kane, who recently praised President Trump, is a fan favorite in the White House, too.
"Harry Kane is the number one goal scorer for the England team, and if they are going to win the tournament, he will be the main reason. He is one of the main players on the team, and he and Jude Bellingham are fine athletes.
"England strike me as being an exceedingly well-balanced team you have to be confident and what the coach has to drill it into them that they have the potential to win."
England and Argentina will be playing on Wednesday, with a spot in the final on the line.
