Magic Johnson Spotlights Jamal Cain After Magic Grab Commanding 3-1 Series Lead
Magic Johnson had his eyes on Jamal Cain after Orlando's Game 4 win, and honestly, it was hard not to. The Magic are now one win away from stunning the No. 1 seed Pistons after grinding out a 94-88 victory at the Kia Center to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
Desmond Bane led the scoring, but Cain gave Orlando the kind of energy swing that changes a playoff game, from his huge dunk over Jalen Duren to his work defensively against Cade Cunningham. Now the series shifts back to Detroit for Game 5, where the Magic will have a chance to close things out and win their first playoff series since 2010.

Magic Johnson took to X to share his thoughts on the game saying, "The Magic go up 3-1 in the Series over the #1 seed Pistons 94-88! Desmond Bane led with 22 points but the man of the hour was Jamal Cain! Cain's dunk over Jalen Duren was the best in the Playoffs so far and his defense on Cade Cunningham was exceptional. The Magic caused 20 turnovers for the Pistons and you just can't win when you don't protect the ball."
Detroit Pistons Crumbling Away in the Playoffs
Orlando is now sitting in a position very few people expected before this series started: one win away from sending the East's top seed home.
The Magic survived a tense Game 4 against Detroit, winning 94-88 and moving ahead 3-1 in the matchup. It was not pretty basketball for long stretches, but in the playoffs, that part does not really matter. Orlando found enough plays late, fed off the home crowd, and now has a chance to finish the job in Detroit.
Jamal Cain ended up becoming the story of the night. After Franz Wagner had to leave with calf soreness, Cain came in and gave the Magic a huge lift. His dunk on Jalen Duren was easily one of the loudest moments of the postseason so far, the kind of play that instantly becomes the highlight everyone wants to replay. Still, Cain made it clear afterward that his real assignment was making life difficult for Cade Cunningham.
That part mattered, because Detroit never really settled down. The Pistons wasted too many possessions, gave the ball away 20 times, and could not find a steady rhythm when the game got tight. Cunningham scored 25, but Orlando made him work for almost everything.
Desmond Bane gave the Magic their scoring punch with 22 points, including a huge late three that helped shut the door. Somehow, Orlando won despite shooting terribly from the field, which says a lot about its defense, energy, and control of the little things.
