One website says KU basketball has landed best mid-major guard from the portal

The Kansas Jayhawks may have picked up one of the best guards in the transfer portal Monday morning.

Toledo’s Leroy Blyden committed to KU on Monday, his agents confirmed to The Star. According to EvanMiya.com, he’s the best mid-major guard in the portal.

EvanMiya.com — run by college basketball statistician Evan Miyakawa — is an advanced analytics website that focuses on college basketball.

According to Miyakawa, Blyden is a top-15 player overall in the portal. The website rates his offense as an “A” and defense as a “B+” overall.

“Kansas just got the best mid-major guard in the entire transfer portal ...” Miyakawa wrote on X. “Really love this pickup for Bill Self.”

The player grades are based on offensive and defensive BPR, which measures an individual player’s offensive or defensive value added to their team per 100 possessions. It’s a basketball metric that originated at EvanMiya.com.

Blyden, who shot 40.7% on 3-pointers last season, is projected to shoot 38% with KU next season. That ranks in the 95th percentile, according to Miyakawa.
