Former Kansas guard Jerod Haase will be introduced as the head men’s basketball coach at UNC Greensboro at a news conference Wednesday morning, a source close to the situation confirmed to The Star.

According to The Field of 68, Haase, 51, has agreed to a 5-year deal. He replaces Mike Jones, who went 93-69 in five seasons. Jones’ contract was not renewed this offseason.

At UAB, Haase led the Blazers to back-to-back 20-win seasons from 2014-16, leading the Blazers to the NCAA Tournament second round in 2015 and NIT in 2016 after a 26-win season. Haase also worked as an assistant at KU from 1999-2003 and North Carolina (2003-12) before becoming a head coach. Haase was part of a pair of NCAA title teams at North Carolina (2005, 2009).

UNC Greensboro of the Southern Conference went 15-19 this season. The Spartans last made the NCAA Tournament in 2021 under current Cincinnati coach Wes Miller.
