Kansas-Oklahoma State game prediction
This is a big game for both sides. The Jayhawks are looking to bounce back from losing to Iowa State and are still in the hunt for the Big 12 title.
Meanwhile, OSU looks to end a three-game losing streak and get closer to earning an NCAA Tournament berth. KU’s defense will need to limit shifty OSU guards Anthony Roy and Vyctorius Miller, both of whom can score in bunches.
Both guards are excellent shooters, so if KU can limit their 3-point attempts, it’ll go a long way to shutting down OSU’s offense.
As for KU’s offense, the game plan is simple. Take it inside. Not only do the Cowboys struggle to guard inside the arc, but their block rate vs. opponents is low, so the Jayhawks should put pressure on their interior defense by attacking the rim.
I like the Jayhawks not only to win, but also cover in this one.
Prediction: Kansas 76, Oklahoma State 67
Shreyas’ pick to cover the spread: Kansas (-7.5)
Shreyas’ season record: 20-5
Shreyas’ record against the spread: 17-8
KU Player to Watch: Darryn Peterson
Freshman guard Darryn Peterson is on a bit of a cold streak. The star guard scored a KU-career low 10 points vs. Iowa State.
He’s in a bit of a shooting slump. Over his last three games, Peterson is shooting just 36% from the field. It’s by far the worst three-game stretch of his freshman season.
Well, playing this Oklahoma State team gives Peterson an opportunity — to not only break his cold spell, but also start playing his best basketball as KU enters its final stretch of regular-season games.
The Jayhawks will certainly need him come March.
