Missouri Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks enter AP Top 25 football poll. Here’s where they rank

The result for which Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks fans have longed is here.

Mizzou (4-0) earned its first Top 25 football ranking of the year in the college season’s fifth AP Top 25 poll, which was released Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers enter the Top 25 ranked No. 23 after beating Memphis 34-27 Saturday. MU is 4-0 for the first time since 2013.

Kansas enters the poll right behind Mizzou at No. 24. The Jayhawks are 4-0 for the second consecutive season — the first time that’s happened since 1914-15 — after besting previously unbeaten BYU Saturday in Lawrence.

Like Missouri, this is the first appearance for KU in the Top 25. It’s also the first time KU has been ranked since a No. 19 assessment on Oct. 19, 2022.

Meanwhile, K-State (3-1, 1-0) is unranked after defeating UCF 44-31 Saturday in Manhattan. The Wildcats are knocking on the door, however, leading the “others receiving votes” category with 57 votes. K-State started the 2023 season ranked but fell out of the Top 25 with a road loss to Mizzou.

The Big 12 boasts multiple schools in the poll this week: Texas is No. 3 after beating Baylor and Oklahoma is No. 14 after topping Cincinnati. TCU received 17 votes in the “others” category.

The top of the newly released poll looks like this: Defending national champion Georgia is ranked No. 1, followed by No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 Florida State, No. 6 Penn State, No. 7 Washington, No. 8. USC, No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Utah.

All three regional Division I schools — MU, KU and KSU — play road games next weekend. K-State visits Oklahoma State, KU heads to Austin to play Texas and MU will be at Vanderbilt.
