Wichita’s Katie Swan loses in Wimbledon girls quarterfinals

Wichitan Katie Swan’s run in the Wimbledon girls division ended in Thursday’s quarterfinals, but she was a temporary toast of Britain.

Swan lost 7-6 (2), 6-0 to Viktoria Kuzmova of Slovakia and was England’s last hope of a junior champion this year.

Originally from Bristol, England, Swan moved with her family to Wichita in 2013. She attends Collegiate High but does not compete for the Spartans’ tennis team. She reached the Australian Open girls final last winter.

“Thank you @Wimbledon for this week. I will be back stronger,” she wrote on Twitter.
