Top six seeds all advance at Wichita Tennis Open
Top seed Michael Mmoh beat Andrew Carter 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday in his first-round match in the Wichita Tennis Open at the Coleman Tennis Complex.
Mmoh, ranked 185th in the world, will face Henry Craig in the second round. Craig beat Tim Kopinski on Tuesday in his first match.
The top six seeds in the 32-player field all won their first-round matches.
No. 2 seed Christian Harrison won his opening match Wednesday, beating Ryan Penniston 6-3, 6-2. Harrison is coming off a tournament title at last week’s Futures Tour event in Tulsa.
The Wichita Tennis Open is an event on the International Tennis Federation Futures Tour, and is being contested for the third straight year.
Second-round singles matches will be contested beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Doubles semifinal matches will be played at 6 p.m.
Singles semifinals are Saturday, with the singles championship set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
